- First Offense DUI My firm can minimize the consequences of a first time DUI arrest. Conviction, even on your first offense, can result in fines up to $2000, license suspension up to 1 year, up to 6 months jail time, your vehicle being impounded for at least 10 days, a possible ignition interlock system, and one-year probation. - DUI Sobriety and Field Exercises DUI sobriety and field exercises are used by police to build a case against a person. Often, these exercises are inaccurate, and the officer on the spot interprets the results subjectively. My firm can evaluate the accuracy of the various exercises used, spot skewed results and build a strong defense on your behalf. Exercises include following an object with your eyes (known as the horizontal gaze nystagmus test), the one leg stand, saying the alphabet or counting backwards, and the walk and turn.

An ignition interlock system, preventing your car from starting until you blow into a tube and register a BAC below .05, is ordered when a first offender had a BAC of .15 or above or when the person has had prior DUIs.
